I just like my fiction to have some glimmer of reality, unless there are orcs and elves roaming around. I truly think this was a made for tv novel. Tonatiuh marked it as to-read Apr 13, It makes much more sense when you read a little bit about Hammett’s life, and malttes that he’s living through his main characters. No halcob or quizzes yet. The words are repetitive, and the descriptions are bad and pointless.
You always have a very smooth explanation ready. This book is not yet featured on Listopia. The last chapter was just nauseating. Holy crap, if people were really this stupid in the early 20th century it’s surprising the human race has developed to the level it is in now. I’d never seen the movie and had to read the book for my book club and I just despised it.

This version maktes The Hollywood Theater of the Ear had too many actors and actresses. There were so many things I hated about this book. I had seen various incarnations of this same story unfold through numerous adaptations, so in a way, I was already familiar with the story.
With the noir itch still very active, I settled on this book. After they leave, Spade calls the police and tells them where to pick up the pair. Please try again later.
