Postcolonial literature is often classified as a body of works produced by a previously colonized nation. This definition is too broad to be of any practical value, however, it does give some direction to thought to have further delineations on the subject involving the language as well as traditional and national sensibilities along with tribal, cultural, ethnic and geographical orientations of a society.

This is essential to explain the nature and logic of a body of work because one defines a literary movement not only by the era and location in which it occurs but also by the style of writing and its political and social impact on society.

Writers don’t write in a vacuum. Certain social, cultural and political movements are always there to feed them the inspiration and the substance that reflect in their works. For example, the Romantic Literature of Britain, produced from the middle of eighteenth century to the early nineteenth century emerged from British Romanticism in which nature and love were glorified.
