According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, landscape architects design the look of outdoor spaces like parks, playgrounds, and the grounds of office buildings, schools, and other public areas. Designs are created to enhance the surroundings such as nearby buildings by using the existing landscape to its best potential as well as bringing in new elements such as waterfalls, rocks, gardens, and the like. Landscape architects design outdoor spaces to be best used for years to come. Though much work as a landscape architect is done in an office, the opportunity to be outdoors part of the time exists.

Education needed includes a bachelors degree in landscape architect. Most states also require that landscape architects be licensed. To get a license, test that the state administers, is required to ensure the person is qualified to do the work. Skills for this job include having a love of nature and being creative and artistic.
